Tri-innovate – a joint initiative between Hertford, Pembroke and Wolfson Colleges
Tri-innovate was launched in 2015 as a joint initiative between Hertford, Pembroke and Wolfson Colleges.
The three colleges have joined together to champion innovation, encouraging students to create teams that will build innovative commercial or social enterprises around the best ideas. We are working together because we know that teams need building beyond one college, and all we require for entry is that one member of the team comes from one of our three colleges – as a graduate or undergraduate.
The challenge is to develop the best ideas by pitching them to a panel of judges, in front of an audience, for a prize and for future mentoring. The idea may come out of your academic work, or it maybe connected to other interests. The Tri-Innovate project wants to turn those ideas into opportunities. Perhaps you've dreamed up a cool widget, a smart App, a clever financial model, a new way of getting schoolchildren interested in life-writing, or a radically new set of structures for charity work - anything that can help others and make some money at the same time.
Even if your idea doesn’t win a prize, Tri-Innovate can be a great learning experience. It’s not easy to put an idea across in a few words or a video – but if you can learn to do it, it can be a great help in life.
Ideas selected for the Pitch Event will get feedback from the judges – people with experience of innovation – and a chance for mentoring. And there are some cash prizes of up to £8,000!
Judges & Mentors
Hertford alumni are invited to become judges for our first innovation contest! At the initial stage, judges will be invited to evaluate and rate the proposals submitted by the teams. Further down the line, there will also be opportunities to be a judge at the live event and to mentor teams.
