Conquering the Cotswolds: Hertford’s Great British Bike or Hike Off (HGBBHO)

Here are our ingredients for a top Saturday:

  • Well-deserved barbecue & booze*
  • Chance to work on your suntan**

Put all this together and you have the Conquering the Cotswolds on Saturday 1st July; join us for a perfect day out with Team Hertford!

You can choose between a bike ride or a walk – we’ll have expert guides on hand to take you through the most beautiful scenery.

  • 15km hike
  • 30km hike
  • 100km bike ride
  • 160km bike ride

And by the time you’ve finished Conquering the Cotswolds, you’ll need a place to kick back, relax and celebrate. So come and join us for some food, drink, music and cheer in OB Quad.

How to register for Conquering the Cotswolds

THE FEEL-GOOD (FREE) OPTION
(Sign up for the hertford360! Conquering the Cotswolds is included in the hertford360 package).

Follow this link to register, and your hertford360 registration email will include a link to the Passion In Events website where you can complete the Conquering the Cotswolds event registration.

THE PAYMENT OPTION
(The payment option goes towards the cost of the event and doesn’t include a donation).

Sign up on Eventbrite for the hike/bike ride (£35) and Hertford barbecue (£20). Your registration email will include a link to the Passion In Events website, where you can complete extra details for the Conquering the Cotswolds event registration. 

 

 

Can I bring guests?

The more, the merrier!

Where does the challenge start and finish?

Cyclists will depart from Hertford College and the route will take them into the Cotswolds and back. Hikers will be transported from Hertford College by bus to the start and from the finish of their route.

Timings 

7am – breakfast, briefing and bike check in OB Quad, Hertford College
8am – hikers depart Hertford College
9am – riders depart Hertford College
7pm – end of challenege BBQ

Accommodation 

A small number of rooms are available for the evenings of 30 June and 1 July. Please contact the Accommodation Manager to enquire – charlotte [dot] malins [at] hertford [dot] ox [dot] ac [dot] uk

What’s included in the challenge:

  • A one day cycle and walking challenge on 1 July 2017.
  • For those choosing to hike, free coach transfer from Hertford College, Oxford to and from the start and finish.
  • A fully guided ride and hike, with guides at a ratio of 1:10 – you can ride/walk at a pace which is right (both comfortable and challenging) for you.
  • Registration before the event and bike check before cycling begins.
  • Fully supported day, including: three refreshment stops supplying hot and cold drinks, nectar energy gels and hydration tablets, snacks and lunch, full mechanical support, and medical support.

What’s not included in the challenge:

  • Personal travel (for you and/or your bike) to and from Oxford.
  • Personal insurance.
  • Bike insurance.
  • Bike & cycling, and walking kit.
  • Accommodation.
  • Post celebration barbeque – register for ÂŁ20 per person via Eventbrite
