Bridge Centenary Celebrations

2013 marks the one hundredth anniversary of the construction of Hertford’s bridge. Hertford alumni and friends are warmly invited to join us for a day of celebrations including lectures, a film screening, and a drinks reception and party in OB Quad including a live band.
Programme
Highlights of the programme include:
- Keynote Lecture: Dr William Whyte explaining the history of how Hertford came to build the bridge, and the educational reformist values behind T.G. Jackson’s architecture
- Centennial Exchange on Access: Mary Curnock Cook OBE (Chief Executive, UCAS) and Sir Peter Lampl (Chairman, the Sutton Trust) in conversation
- Hertford academics discussing how their academic research impacts upon policy
- Premiere screening of a five minute film on Hertford produced by BAFTA award winning film producer Anthony Geffen
- Drinks and party in OB Quad, including live band
From the Principal
We have seized the opportunity of the centennial anniversary of Hertford’s bridge to bring our community together. We want you to be intellectually stimulated, have fun and, more importantly, affirm your Hertford membership. We have a lot to be proud of, and every intention of building upon our achievements in the decades ahead.

There is a charge of ÂŁ25 for this event, and accommodation is available in college at a cost of ÂŁ50 per single room (early booking by Friday 26th July 2013 will secure you a ÂŁ5 discount). You are welcome to bring a guest, however if you would like to bring more than one please call us to enquire.
Payment can be made by cheque or credit/debit card; please make cheques payable to Hertford College or telephone us on 01865 279428 to make card payments. For cancellations after the 6th September, please note that we will regretfully be unable to make any refunds.

Please share your photos and stories of the bridge during your time at Hertford. We want to built an archive of images and memories which may be displayed at the event and used in Hertford College News. Outreach and access day, Friday 27th September
On Friday 27th September, Dr James Castell (Outreach Fellow) and Dr Matthew Hiscock (Academic Registrar) are organising an outreach and access day for 100 students from 10 comprehensive schools.
