Britain’s Constitutional Crisis: Brexit & journalism
13 November 2019 - 17:30
The first in a brand-new series of lectures organised by Hertford Principal Will Hutton: Britain’s Constitutional Crisis.
Join Alan Rusbridger – Principal of Oxford’s Lady Margaret Hall and former editor of The Guardian – and investigative journalist Carole Cadwalladr to discuss the impact of Brexit on journalism and the media. This first event in the series will be hosted in the Bodleian Library’s Convocation House. Please register for your free ticket on Eventbrite.
The experience of attempting to leave the EU has exposed fault-lines and weaknesses in key British institutions – the operation of constitutional law, the role of the media and the hoped-for independence and impartiality of the Civil Service. Whatever happens next, Britain needs to think hard about whether its institutions are fit for purpose.
