Ride London success
30 July 2018
Team Hertford was out in force this weekend at the annual Ride London event. A team of 13 cyclists made up of alumni and friends of the college rode in the event raising money for our student support fund.
In total, almost £5,500 has been raised and donations are still coming in. If you would like to make a donation you can make a gift online and just email us to let us know who you would like to sponsor.
Our star fundraisers are Tim Dean (2005, Economics) and Cathryn Teverson, who have together raised over £2,500. Tim said ‘Cathryn and I took part in Ride London to raise money for student hardship funds because, quite simply, we think promoting access to education is incredibly important. Having had the opportunity to go to Hertford myself (and Cathryn at Wadham), the thought that some miss out due solely to reasons beyond their control is a real shame – Hertford has so much to offer on this front. The fact that Hertford was the first Oxbridge college to proactively encourage applicants from comprehensive schools is a wonderful legacy, and it’s fantastic to help build on these efforts!’
Our student support fund is used to provide crucial financial assistance to our students to ensure that Hertford’s doors remain open to all who wish to study here, irrespective of their financial means. We are enormously grateful to those who took part:
- Neil Tubman (1994, Physics)
- Andrew Springett (1978, Modern Languages)
