London Lecture 2013

Thanks to the great generosity of Rodney Baker-Bates (Modern History, 1963) and Willis Ltd, this year’s London Lecture was held at The Willis Building. Dr Emma Smith, Fellow and Tutor in English, talked about Shakespeare as a collaborative author rather than a singular genius. A fruitful question and answer session ranged widely over the real authorship of Shakespeare’s plays, the difficulties of poetic analysis of collaborative plays, and the example of Rodgers and Hammerstein. The Principal, Will Hutton, invited all to the Bridge Centenary celebrations, and sought volunteers to join his plan to cycle from Oxford to Venice as part of our ongoing fundraising for the Ellis Barnard History Fellowship.
