Hertford poet shortlisted for Forward

Vidyan Ravinthiran (English, 2003) has been shortlisted for the Forward Poetry Prize for Best First Collection for his new book Grun-tu-molani. Vidyan’s poems have been described in an review in the Independent by Sean O’Brien as having

a light touch and a sometimes damning elegance to subjects including MTV, a chair addressing Jackie Chan, the Tamil Tigers, militarism and the purpose of money

The winner of the prize will be announced on 30th September 2014.
