Quintessence of dust

Hertford Professor David Thomas has been in the news discussing his research project DO4MODELS which tries to plot the effect of dust on climate. Described by the BBC as ‘a veteran researcher of some of the world’s dustiest areas’ (insert your own joke here), David, with an international team of researchers, has been investigating the causes of dust and ways of modelling their impact on climate. As David explains:

Dust is one of the missing jigsaw pieces in climate modelling… [and] what we do know is that human activity at the surface is potentially creating environments where more dust can be generated.
