Curator’s talk: James Parkes and the Age of Intolerance

27 February 2020 - 17:00

Join the curator of the James Parkes travelling exhibition, Dr Chad McDonald, to discuss Parkes’ work as a pioneering campaigner against antisemitism.

Dr McDonald will focus on Parkes’ tireless work during the 1930s and the Second World War. The talk will showcase some of the materials used in the James Parkes exhibition, including photographs from Parkes’ personal collection. Visitors will have an opportunity to look at the exhibition before and after the talk.

Dr Chad McDonald is the curator of the James Parkes and the Age of Intolerance travelling exhibition. He recently completed a PhD examining the British memory of the Holocaust, which was co-supervised between the Department of History at the University of Bristol and Parkes Institute at the University of Southampton. The James Parkes exhibition is currently travelling across Britain, visiting places of worship and sites personally important to James Parkes.

27 February 2020, 17:00-18:30, Hertford College Chapel
