Debating Capitalism: Prof. Paul Collier in conversation

Hertford Conversations are delighted to be hosting the second talk of our ‘Debating Capitalism’ series with Will Hutton, Principal of Hertford College.

Sir Paul Collier CBE is Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government, Professorial Fellow at St Antony’s College and a Director of the International Growth Centre.

From 1998 to 2003 he was Director of the Research Development Department of the World Bank. His research focuses on various areas within Development Economics, ranging from the effects of aid and the problems of democracy in low-income and natural resources-rich societies, to urbanisation in low-income countries, private investment in Africa, sustainability and changes in organisational culture.

Professor Collier has written extensively for the New York Times, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post. His book, ‘The Bottom Billion’ (OUP, 2007) won the 2008 Lionel Gelber prize, the Arthur Ross Book Award and the Corinne prize for Economics in the same year. His latest work, published in 2018, is ‘The Future of Capitalism: Facing the New Anxieties’.
