Dr Mark van der Wilk
Tutorial Fellow in Computer Science
Associate Professor in Machine Learning
Mark completed his PhD in machine learning from the University of Cambridge in 2017, after which he spent 3 years working in industry on automated data-driven decision-making problems. In 2020, he returned to academia to start a research group at Imperial College London, focussing on training methods for deep neural networks that would make predictions more robust, adaptable, and automatic.
In 2023, Mark was appointed Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, and Tutorial Fellow at Hertford College. Together with his research group he continues to work on the foundations of learning algorithms. He also continues to work on machine learning in science and engineering applications, through collaborations and consulting projects with colleagues and industry.
