Teaching and learning

Physics is the study of the substance, processes and laws that govern the Universe from the smallest sub-nuclear to the largest cosmological scales.  In the course you will learn a range of mathematical techniques that are applied to understand the laws of physics, ranging from classical mechanics and the laws of motion to quantum mechanics and relativity.

The Physics department at oxford has about 120 academic staff and is one of the largest in the UK. A very broad range of research is conducted in the physics sub-departments, so that students can expect daily contact with leading researchers who lecture and tutor the courses. .
