Portrait of Jacqui Smith unveiled
25 January 2017
As part of our ongoing revitalisation of the college’s portraits, we unveiled a new commission last week: Tom Cross’s portrait of Jacqui Smith.
Tom has depicted her against shelves of coloured pottery (made by her sister), with a red Labour Women’s Network mug and the date of her matriculation at Hertford as the nonce-time on her watch. At the unveiling, Jacqui affirmed the importance of how we represent ourselves and the history we choose to tell about the college.
The Hall has been redecorated and hung with a selection of portraits old and new, from Tyndale to Tanner and from Boyd to West. Do come and see!
