Hertford Fellow and AI researcher Michael Wooldridge has been named as the recipient of a prestigious award recognising his lasting contributions to AI education.
Mike’s Outstanding Educator Award is awarded by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), the international membership organisation for artificial intelligence. The annual award is issued in recognition of major contributions to AI education that provide long-lasting benefits to the AI community.
The 2021 award has been given to Mike for his “outstanding global leadership in AI education and public awareness, including publishing broadly adopted books and textbooks, establishing the European Agent Systems Summer School, and inspiring public dialogue on AI and multi-agent systems.”
Mike will accept the award with a plenary talk – titled Talking to the public about AI – at the AAAI conference, which this year will be virtual. His recent popular books on AI include Artificial Intelligence in the Ladybird Expert Series and The Road to Conscious Machines: The Story of AI.
