The deadline for applications for the Organ Scholarship offered by Hertford College is 1 September. And as a college with a vibrant student Music Society, an excellent and dedicated choir, and a strong musical tradition, Hertford is an ideal place to develop your skills.
Organ Scholars receive an award of £500 a year and have designated accommodation on the main college site for all three years of their course. There is also funding available for organ and conducting lessons.
Initially you will work closely with the Senior Organ Scholar, organising music lists for chapel services, playing and/or conducting for two services a week, and planning the choir’s summer tours abroad. Later you will take on full responsibility, effectively acting as the director of chapel music. Throughout your time at Hertford you will have the opportunity to shape and contribute to the wider musical life of the college.
If you have any questions about the role, please contact either Dr Ben Skipp or the Chaplain.
