Professor Dame Kay Davies, Lee’s Professor of Anatomy at Hertford, writes in the New Statesman on her own career in science. She encourage young scientists, both women and men, to resist science’s ‘macho’ image and to recognise that individuals pursue excellence in many individual ways.
Science is an exciting and fascinating field to work in. It needs diversity of talent to provide diversity of thinking. I have been fortunate enough to have lived and worked in a supportive and encouraging environment. I want this to be the same for today’s scientists
