Bridge Centenary Underway!
27 September 2013
100 students from state schoools have just left Hertford after an Access Day which launched the celebrations for the Centenary of the Hertford Bridge. They attended a series of talks by Hertford Tutors – on everything from How Do Coalition Parties Bridge their Differences? (Dr Zubek, Politics) to A history of the Hertford Bridge, starting from the Big Bang (Dr Vallance, Chemistry) – took part in a photoshoot under the bridge and learned more about the Oxford Admissions process. The schools travelled to Hertford from across the UK and from as far afield as Yorkhire and Wales. They met a number of our current undergraduates, who explained the avantages of the collegiate system, Hertford’s openness to applicants from every kind of background and the impressive financial support available to students at Oxford from low income households.
