Feedback and Self assessment
Like other colleges, Hertford regularly monitors the quality of its teaching provision and of the wider student experience through student surveys. The Student Barometer surveys all students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with the exception of undergraduates in their final year, and the National Student Survey focuses only on the latter.
Tutors submit formal reports on students' academic work at the end of each term and these are normally discussed with the individual, with the opportunity to review progress and raise concerns. In addition, the JCR Academic Affairs Representative from time to time organises informal feedback sessions, reporting to the Senior Tutor any problems identified.
Any serious problems – academic or personal – should, wherever possible, be brought to the attention of a student's tutors, but the charlotte [dot] brewer [at] hertford [dot] ox [dot] ac [dot] uk (Senior Tutor), the Registrar and the members of the Welfare team can also be approached at any time (in confidence, if required).
Postgraduate students can also keep a record of their progress each term using the Graduate Supervision System, to which Supervisors, College Advisors, and Directors of Graduate Studies can also add reports.
