Tideway Head of the River Racing
10 March 2018
On Saturday 10th March the Hertford College Boat Club Society will be meeting up to cheer on the Hertford Women’s VIII racing at the Women’s Eights Head of the River on the tideway in London.
HCBCS have booked the River Room at the Blue Anchor Pub in Hammersmith from 10.30am from where we will watch the race. This pub has a prime position on the Lower Mall by Hammersmith Bridge, affording it one of the best views of the race.
Catch up with crew mates and college friends, meet some of the current club rowers, and reminice about the good old days on the Isis. All are welcome, even if the closest you got to rowing was Pimm’s at the boat house on Saturday of Eights or watching the boat race on television.
We have the 1st floor River Room booked exclusively for our use from 10.30am. There will be nibbles provided, but please come help to boost the bar bill so that we get our deposit back.
We will be asking for a £10 donation on the day. This is to cover the costs of putting on the event and to contribute to the running costs of the boat club. The HCBC Society provides a large proportion of the funds necessary to keep the boat club afloat, and events such as this one provide the money to do so. Current students go free. For more details see the Facebook listing here.
Hertford will also have a Men’s VIII racing the following day in the Men’s Eights Head of the River Race. Hertford will be race number 184 starting in the 4th Division. We will let you know how they got via our usual race report and encourage any of you free on Sunday to lend them some riverside support!
