News from former visiting students
We are always glad to receive news about our former visiting students, so please keep in touch with us!
For many of our visiting students, studying at Hertford whets the appetite to return to the UK for postgraduate work. Two inspiring examples are Tess Perrin and Omar Farid, both from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
Tess, who came to Hertford for the academic year 2008-2009 to study Maths and Fine Art, studied for an MA on the Conservation of Wall Painting at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London.
Omar came to us for the summer term of 2009 to study Politics and so loved it that he returned to Oxford, gaining a place at Merton College, to read for the M.Phil. in European Politics and Society.
Congratulations are also due to Maria Lantz.
Maria came to Hertford, from Smith College in Massachusetts, to study English for the academic year 2008-2009. After completing her degree at Smith she applied for Teach for America and was selected from a huge pool of 46,000 applicants to join a new body of 4,500 teachers who teach in poorer neighbourhoods in 39 regions across America. We are sure she will be an inspiring example to her pupils.
Finally, Olivia Walch, who came to us in Trinity term 2010 from the College of William and Mary, was not only an excellent Physics and Maths student but is also a talented cartoonist! She did fantastically well by winning the Washington Post “Young Cartoonist of the Year” competition – achieving the title of “America’s Next Great Cartoonist”. Well done Olivia!
