Hertford students and the International Programmes Team ensure that you are given a warm welcome and a clear orientation to help you settle in.
What happens when I arrive in college?
On arrival you are greeted by a Hertford College undergraduate student who will show you to your room, give you a tour of college and take you out for dinner.
What happens on orientation day?
You will have a group Orientation meeting on your first full day in college led by the Visiting Student Administrator and Tutor for Visiting Students.
You will have individual meetings throughout the day with the Tutor for Visiting Students to introduce you to your academic programme
You have a delicious welcome lunch at mid-day in a beautiful wood panelled dining room and meet the MCR President and JCR International Students Representative as well as all members of the International Programmes team
You will be inducted into the Hertford College Library
You will meet with the IT department and they will help you connect to the Oxford University computer network and to activate your email address.
What happens for the rest of the week?
Drinks to meet the College Principal
Induction into the faculty libraries
Meetings with the undergraduate student representatives
Registration with the College Nurse
Tea with the Chaplain
Brunch or dinner with your college “family” (buddy system)
Group academic meeting with Tutor for Visiting Students about tutorial system
Freshers’ week activities if you arrive in the autumn/fall term.
