Code Club Barton

Learn computer coding through challenges and games – no experience or equipment necessary!

Join the Code Club at the Barton Neighbourhood Centre, where you can learn computer coding through challenges and games. You don’t have to have any experience of coding, and we will give you a tablet you can use too, so you don’t need to have a device either. If you complete the course, then the tablet will be yours to keep!

The Code Club is open to students in Year 7 or Year 8 who live in Barton or nearby. It will run after school on a Monday, during school term time, starting 15th April for 20 sessions. The sessions will be led by students and staff from Oxford University, and build skills in block coding languages such as Scratch.

You can apply now to be part of the club – but hurry! Places are limited – we only have 12 spaces – and applications will close on 2nd April. We will let you know by 4th April whether we have a space for you, and the first meeting of the club will be on Monday 15th April. The application form is available here:

Dates & times

The code club will be held on Mondays, 16:00 – 17:00, with snacks and chat each week from 15:45. The sessions will run from Monday 15th April to Monday 15th July, except for the bank holidays on 6th and 27th May.  We will take a break over the summer holidays and students will be invited to continue the club from September to complete the 20-week course (autumn term dates TBC).
