“I spend the majority of my day at work coming up with ideas for TV shows. This doesn’t really sound like it should be a proper job, and I still occasionally fear, despite working in TV development for the last 8 years, that someone will suddenly tell me that the game’s up- I need to put on a suit and start working in a ‘serious’ profession. When I was a student at Hertford I was part of the Oxford Revue comedy troupe and also wrote for the college gossip magazine, Simpkins. On graduating with a degree in History, I was very keen to find a job where the creative muscles I had flexed at university were as valued as the skills I’d acquired in studying for my degree. If you are interested in pursuing a career in the television industry and would like some advice on how to get started, please don’t hesitate to contact me.”
