Non-Stipendiary Lectureship in Pharmacology
Hertford College intends to appoint a Non-Stipendiary Lecturer in Pharmacology from 01 October 2024. This position offers an excellent opportunity for researchers, particularly those in the early stages of their career, to gain valuable teaching experience while continuing their own research.
Responsibilities will include conducting small-group teaching (tutorials) in Pharmacology to undergraduate medical students (1st years: Physiology and Pharmacology, 2nd years: Applied Physiology and Pharmacology), assessing and marking student essays, and leading revision tutorials to help students prepare for BM Part I and II examinations. The number of hours can be flexible depending on other commitments and background, and will be agreed with other tutors at the beginning of each term.
The Lecturer will be under the direction of the Tutorial Fellows in Medicine at Hertford, Professor David Greaves and Professor Vladyslav Vyazovskiy.
The successful candidate would be expected to have, or be close to completing, a doctorate in Pharmacology or a closely related field, although applications from those who do not have a doctorate, but who have commensurate experience and qualifications, will also be considered. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Remuneration for this post will be on an hourly basis at the rates stated in the Conference of Colleges’ Register of Payments, with the addition of an annual retainer of £500 and limited membership of the College’s Senior Common Room (including limited dining rights).
Applications must include a CV, a covering letter detailing all relevant experience, a college application form (available from the college website) and the names and contact details of two referees. Applications should be sent to academic-recruitment@hertford.ox.ac.uk by midday 20th September 2024.  Candidates should also arrange for their referees to write to the college by the same deadline. Interviews will be held in the week commencing 30th September 2024.
Please note that this will be a rolling shortlist/interview process so the vacancy may be withdrawn prior to the stated deadline. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
Potential candidates are welcome to contact: David Greaves (david.greaves@hertford.ox.ac.uk) or Vladyslav Vyazovskiy (vladyslav.vyazovskiy@hertford.ox.ac.uk)
