Neil Tanner and the Tanner Scheme
Discover how our pioneering scheme changed the face of Oxford admissions forever.
Neil Tanner (1930-2008) was a Physics Fellow at Hertford for almost 40 years, retiring in 1997. He acted as Tutor for Admissions from 1965, a role in which he developed and pioneered the famous Hertford admissions plan which came to be known as the ‘Tanner Scheme’. Here you can find out more about the scheme and how we have celebrated it, as well as reading about how it changed the lives of just some of the people who benefited from it.
