Alumni sports groups
The very active HCBCS exists to provide support to the Boat Club, both financially and otherwise, and to keep members up-to-date with the Boat Club's activities.
Membership is open to anyone who wishes to further the success of Hertford rowing.
The Society arranges several social events throughout the year, both on the river at the major rowing events of Torpids, Summer Eights and Head of the River, and in college with a dinner in Hall, and a champagne party for novice rowers following the Christ Church Regatta. An innovation in recent years has been to host drinks and afternoon tea at Henley Royal Regatta each July and this provides a focal point for current and past oarsmen and women attending the regatta.
For more information please see their website.
Since it's establishment in 1996, the group have played an annual Old Boys' football match against the current college team.
As Dave Hart tells us: 'We get players from the recently graduated to those who won Cuppers back in 1980-something. We've had some great matches during that time and it's proved a really good way to make friends from across decades of Hertford footballers. Standard is irrelevant (you'll never be as good as Kenny Lewis was - and possibly still is), but the chance to pull the boots out of the back of the cupboard and come and grace the college pitch one more time is surely too good to miss?'
The group are keen to recruit more players - so if you're interested please sign up to their mailing list.
The Golf Society currently hold an annual event at Swinley Forest, and enter a team into Oxford's inter-collegiate golf tournament held at Frilford Heath.
In 2015 they will be at Swinley Forest on 13 March, whilst the inter-collegiate golf tournament will be on 17 April at Frilford Heath followed by dinner in St Edmund Hall.
Please development [dot] office [at] hertford [dot] ox [dot] ac [dot] uk (get in touch) if you are interested in either or both of these events.
