New Hertford novelist
22 April 2014
Congratulations to Hermione Eyre (English, 1998), whose first novel has been receiving rave reviews!
Viper Wine tells the story of seventeenth-century beauty Venetia Stanley, but it is no ordinary historical novel, mixing modern individuals and preoccupations with an evocation of the court of Charles I.
Hertford English students are having great success in the worlds of fiction, with crime-writer Claire McGowan (EML, 2000) and novelist Alex Preston (1998) also establishing their careers, along with poet Vidyan Ravinthiran (2003). We’re happy to hear of more Hertfordians in print (you needn’t even have read English).
