Hertford triumph in women’s football
17 March 2015
Oxford University Women’s Soccer team won this year’s Varsity match against Cambridge by a record margin: 7-1. But Hertford players on their own contributed an incredible 5 of Oxford’s goals.
Many congratulations to team captain Becca May, to Nadia Haven, and above all to Sophie Cooper, who scored a hat-trick. Sophie was the team’s top goalscorer this season.
The team is on an unbeatable run, winning the BUCS Midlands 1A in their first season in the league without losing a single match. Chantal Paine made her Blues debut in the league-deciding match last week. The team has also reached the final of the BUCS Women’s Football Trophy, which is competed by university teams nationwide. The team will play in the final on 25th March and hope to complete a treble of trophies.
