Chaplain nominated for diversity award
10 July 2014
Good news from Gareth Hughes, the Chaplain of Hertford College, who has been nominated for the Positive Role Model in the Race/Faith/Religion category at the 2014 National Diversity Awards.
The ceremony celebrates some of the excellent and inspiring achievements of positive role models and community organisations from across the UK. The awards aim to recognise nominees in their respective fields of diversity including age, disability, gender, race, faith, religion and sexual orientation.
As one of his nominees put it, Gareth
is a firm believer in and supporter of equality, and blogs and organises events in this vein. He wrote a striking article recently on feminist weddings, emailed the whole college last year putting forward his position on women Bishops in contrast with the decision from the C of E, organises interfaith services and even organises a Trans* Memorial Service
