Tutorial Fellowship in Early Modern History with Titular University Lecturership (CUF)
Hertford College, Oxford, and the University of Oxford (Faculty of History) invite applications for a Tutorial Fellowship in Early Modern British and/or European History to be held in conjunction with a Titular University Lectureship (CUF) in Early Modern History to commence from 1 October 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. The combined College and University salary will be on a scale currently between £42,563 and £57,201 p.a.
The post is for an early modern historian with special interests in visual and/or material culture, c. 1550-1750. There will be no further geographical restriction to the post (i.e. to any specific country in the British Isles and/or continental Europe), for it is the field of study which is important here, not any given country. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to offer teaching across a range of the existing Early Modern British and/or European papers, as well as contributing to the development of new papers at undergraduate and graduate level.
Applicants should have an established research and publication record of a standing appropriate to the stage of the candidate’s career, with evidence of a commitment to continue historical research at the highest level. The successful candidate will be able to provide excellent teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, act as an examiner, and be able and willing to take on pastoral and administrative responsibilities both within the College and the University.
