Hertford partners with refugee training organisation
22 March 2021
We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Na’amal, which will team Hertford students with learners in Jordan through an innovative digital skills training programme.
Na’amal – “we work” in Arabic – partners with leading organisations to support refugees and other vulnerable populations through skills training, mentorship and remote work placement opportunities. Whether because of legal limitations, language barriers, or simply a lack of local opportunity, many refugees struggle to secure employment. Na’amal was created to pave a way for accessible remote employment in the face of these obstacles, so that refugees may have the option of staying in the host country with meaningful employment. Read more about the impact of Na’amal on their website.
The project that Hertford is supporting works with 40 learners in Jordan – half of whom are refugees from Syria – in partnership with French coding NGO Chams. Any students interested in taking part can fill in the volunteer form online.
